Simon has an unabating passion for our countryside; as well as having a vast knowledge of the nature which surrounds us. He also has a fascination for our connection to the world we live in and the lessons we can all learn by immersing ourselves within it for relaxation and mental wellbeing.

As a result, he is passionate about sharing this with a wider audience and encourages the local community to join him outside on his ‘The View Over the Wall experience’. Simon also gives presentations on the subject and is an author of two books about learning from the world around us, one also called ‘The View Over the Wall’.

Simon has also been a long-term advocate of wildlife friendly gardens. He is a qualified teacher, mental health first aider and first aider. He was a Field teacher for the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) and has worked with the Kent Wildlife trust.

Simon is married to Gillian and they have two little rescue dogs, Scruffy and Bruno, who enjoy walking their little legs off daily.

“I am thrilled to be partnering with ‘The Outdoor Guide’ because I hope that between us we can encourage as many people as possible to not just use the countryside for walking but as a means to understand our place in the world and our connection to it, which in turn will help address the difficulties so many of us are experiencing with our mental health.  Activities that I offer give people an opportunities to talk about their concerns in an unthreatening and informal manner. Thanks to all at The Outdoor Guide for this opportunity to reach and help more people together.”
