Walk Details
This route, through RSPB Arne is just over a mile in length, however there are two trails that you can explore and it is advisable that you allow plenty of time to watch the wildlife. There is lots to see including dragonflies, sand lizards, ospreys, Dartford warblers and nightjars. It is one of the best sites to visit to see the wildlife in Dorset.

Poole Harbour is next to the reserve, home to winter waders and wildfowl, including the largest wintering population of avocets in the UK.

There is plenty to see all year round, with beautiful views across Poole Harbour, Corfe Castle, and the Purbeck Hills.

There is a café attached to the visitor centre and accessible loos too. There is plenty of car parking space, with blue badge parking.

Deb’s verdict
There are two all-terrain wheelchairs, provided by Countryside Mobility (South West) that you can hire from the visitor centre. However, I did the route in my Davinci Wheelchair with powerwheel attachment, which coped really well with the soft sandy areas. There are a couple of steep sections which might prove difficult in a manual chair.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
