The Hirschley is the viewing area which has breath taking views over Lake Rursee. It is a 2.7km uphill climb to the top of Hirschley, which can be quite challenging for those in a manual wheelchair.
There are plenty of seats along the way to rest weary legs and to stop to admire the views. Also from the carpark is the start of the Wilder Weg Trail.
This 1.5km wheelchair friendly walk has been designed to be inclusive for all. The walk starts on a wooden walkway which is ideal for any type of wheelchair.
Visitors to this part of the Park can learn about the nature of this area through the interactive displays. Signage is in braille and there are tactile sculptures to explore. A bronze model provides information on the national park and reservoirs. There is an orientation plan on the ground for blind and partially sighted walkers. Information is also presented in high-contrast, large raised lettering and German Braille. It is also available audio format.
There is a free guided tour with a ranger every Sunday at 1pm. No advance booking required.
About twenty minute drive by car is the Vogelsang IP Forum, where there is a fabulous multi-sensory exhibition in the visitor centre. “Dreams of Wilderness” is an interactive exhibition which inspires wonder and understanding about the importance of Eifel National Park and about our eco systems globally and is well worth a visit.
