Walk Details

The Seaton Wetlands offer over 4km of trails and boardwalks for you to explore. Situated alongside the River Axe, this nature reserve is wheelchair friendly and, through the Countryside Mobility Scheme, has an All Terrain Wheelchair available for hire to ensure everyone has the opportunity to observe the wildlife and enjoy the landscape here.

Our walk follows the trails and boardwalks in the nature reserve – dipping into the hides and taking time to just pause and observe life here. At the Discovery Hut there are often volunteers on hand to have a chat with you about the abundant bird life and recent sightings. You can also grab some welcome refreshments here too.

If you are a wheelchair user – the Island Hide, overlooking Stafford Marsh is fully accessible for you.

Access TOG Verdict:

The path here is flat and well defined – it’s ideal for manual wheelchair users. The all-important accessible loos can be found in the Discovery Hut. The Countryside Mobility Scheme is a fabulous resource and hiring the powered wheelchair can make your trip here that little bit easier!

Other wheelchair accessible walks in this area that you may wish to also explore are walks with wheels along the River Sid and National Trust Salcombe Hill.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
