Hello Toggers!

Are you walking with a spring in your step?
You may think that walking is a simple exercise to take. Place one foot in front of the other and off you go right? Well yes … but there is more to it. Relearning how we walk can help avoid injury, reduce joint sprain and enable us to walk for longer and sometimes faster. Advice from top Sports Scientists suggest we should focus on pushing off from the back foot to use the muscles more in the backs of our legs, peeling through each foot from our heel to toe (and using all of our toes to help push us forward), lifting our ribs and lower spine to activate our abdominal muscles, lengthen and straighten our necks to free our spines and swing our arms like pendulums, using our elbows to impel us forwards. Try it on your next walk and see what difference it makes.

Walking in the footsteps of Smugglers!

This Easter we’re heading down to Cornwall for a lovely little walk on the western edge of Falmouth Bay known as The Smugglers Trail. Now this is such a peaceful place – it’s hard to believe it was once a hustling port and hotbed of illegal trading! After our walk we’re heading to St Michaels Resort in Falmouth – a beautiful spa hotel that sits overlooking the sea.
