LitterHeroes Campaign 2020

The #LitterHeroes Campaign is officially underway, our annual campaign to clear up our green spaces championed by Julia Bradbury, The Outdoor Guide and Keep Britain Tidy.

This year is going to be a little different to previous years (for obvious reasons), but we believe, regardless of the current situation, we have to do our bit to help the environment and preserve it for future generations.

Usually, we’d be promoting lots of large litter picking events, which have mostly had to be cancelled or reduced significantly in size. So, instead of large national litter picks, we are asking you to buy your own reusable litter bag  and head out in your local area, so you can become a #LitterHero too.

We’re including hand sanitiser with our reusable litter bags this year, kindly made by our friends over at the Derbyshire Distillery, and wooden pegs to pick the rubbish up with. When you do head out in your local area, remember to follow all the government guidelines.

There are some fantastic partners taking part this year, who’s support and commitment to the cause we couldn’t be more grateful for:

Keep Britain Tidy are a charity dedicated to promoting litter picking initiatives as well as waste reduction campaigns. You can find out more about them on their website: keepbritaintidy.org

The Fire Cadets have been another great source of support for this campaign, and more generally for young people in Britain. The initiative is run by the fire service, taking kids from age 11-18, teaching them basic fire safety skills, building up their confidence along the way. We really enjoyed our litter pick with the Oxford branch of the Fire Cadets, we’re hoping to head to Sheffield and Merseyside once lockdowns have been eased for more litter picking adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for our upcoming blog and video about our time with them.

The Camping and Caravanning Club is the largest and oldest club for campers of all kinds. With 100 sites in the UK and abroad, as well as providing a range of camping related resources for their members.

Premier Paper Group are the UK’s leading independent paper merchant, providing a range of products and services. They are also on a mission for sustainability, with a great commitment to carbon off-set through a major tree planting campaign.

Robens, who’s products have become a benchmark for quality and affordability, are doing their bit to help reduce waste through clever product design.

Outwell Tents are a company dedicated to getting families outside. With tents and camping equipment suitable for multi-generational camping.
Easy Camp are the perfect camping brand for those looking for attractive tents with low price tags. Perfect for new campers, or those who camp casually. Easy Camp products are good quality and fun to use.

Ordnance Survey are innovative cartographers, bringing their customers highly accurate physical and digital maps. Their app is perfect to use whilst walking, running or cycling and allows you to track your routes or create them from the comfort of your home.

Healthy Seas are an organisation from Greece dedicated to tackling ghost netting, which is causing devastation for wildlife in our seas. Ghost netting occurs when fishing boats lose or intentionally throw fishing nets into the sea, these nets then float away with the current whilst still capturing marine life, often coming to rest on the sea bed with devastating consequences for the animals which live there.

We’re incredibly grateful to all our partners participation in the #LitterHeroes campaign, without them none of this would be possible. Don’t forget to check out their pages below, where you can find more detailed information.
