Anyone Can - Canoe

Canoeing

Glide across the lake entirely under your own power. Canoeing is silent – except for the gentle rush of water and plop of the paddles.

You will love canoeing because it is both beautifully simple and the original adventure and travel machine. You travel in comfort on raised seats and optionally supported seats. We can vary stability from a good chance of capsizing to no practical chance of getting wet (by how we set up the boats). Canoes can take us anywhere on the lake and beyond; to rivers and across whole countries.

We offer: a taste of canoeing for a day, canoe weekends (camping or hoteling on the water’s edge) and arrange extended trips to Scotland and abroad for multi-day expeditions.

As with everything we do we seek to be inclusive by default. We have a range of supported seating, transfer equipment, communications equipment, one-handed paddling accessories and the experienced staff to make your adventure brilliant.

CavingCaving

Caving

Being deep underground is a unique experience. The peace, beauty and darkness of the caves envelop you, and your small group in the bubble of light given off by your head torch. Caving is both humbling and exciting: a natural wonderland where every formation out-ages your whole known family tree.

Caves have formed each, with their unique character and challenges which make it a fantastic sport when adapted at the right level for our adventurous customers. From entering via a waterfall using a rope to wheeling in a wheelchair through large water-worn passageways – there are options aplenty.

People worry that they might get stuck in tight spaces, let us reassure you, that the passages are generally large – it’s normal to stand up for most of the time. There may be a crawl or two but there is never a squeeze unless given as an optional challenge.

We have a meeting point in Ingleton for Caving and as many caves are weather dependent we make final plans on the day when we meet you.

ClimbingClimbing

Climbing

Rock climbing is for those who love working things out – it is literally about solving physical problems with your body: how to get from your current position to the next position needed to progress up or along the climb.

Further to the personal challenge there develops quickly a culture of collective problem solving from the team on the ground: who can see from a different perspective, the problem you are tackling. There – like all great adventure sports – is a simplicity to climbing which helps you focus and enjoy the unique experience of defying gravity on terrain near the limit of what a human can traverse.

We have a range of climbing venues that we use including wheelchair access to the base of the crag. We can also adapt systems to physically assist the climbers. Extra support on the ropes makes it easier for the climber to ascend. A parallel rope allows a guide alongside providing physical support, coaching and reassurance.

We climb both indoors and out depending on the weather and objectives of the experience. You can try climbing for the day, join us for a climbing weekend, learn to climb independently or join us on European climbing trips.

SailingSailing

Sailing

The moment the air flowing over the sails gets organised something very sciencey happens – it is very complicated – but your whole body feels the moment, the boat comes alive and surges forward. It starts as a feeling in your toes and becomes a sensation in your stomach and emerges as a smile on your lips.

Sailing is a sensational sport. It is about working with what you can feel and controlling the boat to suit.
Sailing can take you around the lake, around the country or the world. It is amazing to experience the technology that created our modern world.

Sailing can be one of the most accessible adventure sports because the joy of sailing is about controlling the vessel rather than propelling it, there is little or no distance to move your own body and it is possible to be an excellent sailor with any sensory impairment.

We offer a taste of sailing days, lake sailing weekends (with camping, hotels or sleeping onboard) and extended trips in Scotland and beyond.
