Walk Details
The village of Cormery is between Tours and Loches. It is small but it has a rich architectural heritage including the abbey and the river Indre. Information boards along the path will tell you all the history of the place.
The Cormery Macarons are little cakes that are soft and crunchy at the same time, are round in shape. Derived from meringue, they are made from ground almonds, icing sugar, caster sugar and egg whites. The legend says that the macaron – “the 8th wonder of the world” – was created in 791, which gives it the same birthday as the
abbey.
