The Grant Arms Hotel – UK’s Wildlife Hotel
In the fine Scottish country town of Grantown on Spey, not far from the famous Spey River, lies the handsome stone built Grant Arms Hotel, which has recently been refurbished and upgraded to offer modern comforts whilst retaining a traditional character.
“On and on we went till at length we saw lights … turned down a small court to the door of the inn. Here we got out quickly – Lady Churchill and General Gray not waiting for us. We went up a small staircase, and were shown to our bed-room at the top of it – very small, but clean – with a large four-post bed which nearly filled the whole room…”
– Queen Victoria’s Journal, September 4th 1860
The Grant Arms Hotel has changed a lot since Queen Victoria stayed here in 1860. Built in 1765 during the reign of King George III and situated in the Cairngorms National Park in Grantown on Spey, the Grant Arms Hotel is a traditional Scottish building, tastefully refurbished to provide thoroughly modern standards of comfort.
The Grant Arms Hotel offers 50 en-suite bedrooms. There are two Four Poster Rooms (one of which is Queen Victoria’s), Twin, Double, Single or Family Rooms and also three enabled rooms for disabled guests.
All facilities in the Grant Arms Hotel are wheelchair accessible. A wide range of leisure activities, such as walking, Bird Watching and Wildlife, hiking, climbing, cycling, golfing or fishing makes Grantown on Spey the perfect location for your holiday. Follow the Whisky or Castle Trail, taste a wee dram of Whisky in one of the famous Speyside Distilleries or dive into the fascinating Scottish History.
The town is surrounded by ancient woodlands, which offer a unique habitat for a wide variety of wildlife. Anagach Woods with its ancient Pine Trees, on the doorstep of the Grant Arms Hotel, is a haven for rare animals and plants.
