Walk Details
If ever there was a walk to get a good dose of Vitamin N (nature) and Vitamin Sea – then this is it!
You’ll experience the natural wonders of West Cork – starting in the luscious forest of Rineen Forest Recreational Area, located at the most northern point of Castlehaven Bay.
We start our walk following the Bawnlahan trail through the trees (after we’ve paused to hug one or two of them). Just take a moment to listen to the symphony of the natural world around you and take in a good lung full of the fresh air!
As you continue along the trail you will come out at Cappagh Point – offering incredible views out across the coastline. It’s an opportunity to pause and take in this breathtaking scenery that you’re immersed in.
When you’re ready to head off again, our path takes us eastward through Cooldurragha that offers us a dose of rural charm. You can also opt to take a short detour towards Reen Pier for a pitstop of some fresh local seafood and a local eatery or just soak up some of the sea air.
Rejoining the main path once more, we head north, back towards the Costal Viewpoint-West Cork so you can again pause for a moment to take in this magnificent scenery before heading back towards where we started in Rineen Forest Recreational Area once more.

Remember to prepare properly before heading out on any type of walk or outdoor activity. Tell people where you are going and what time you are expected back. As Wainwright says "There's no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing".
